Horseradish
Horseradish root is often used instead of traditional wasabi. The leaves can be thinly sliced and are fresh and crunchy in a summer salad. With its peppery flavour it pairs well with beef and pork - the root is perfectly gently grated into a dumpling mix!
Care: Best grown in moist, well drained soil. Keep well watered.
Horseradish also makes a lovely sauce which pairs great with pork tenderloin!
