Our Story

In the heart of New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty

Our nursery at Plummers Pt Road has been established for 25 years.

In May 2017 Sean Horan bought the nursery and rebranded the business as Nudo.

We are a premium herb supplier providing stores in New Zealand with fresh and ready to use herbs, all year round!

We live for herbs

We’ve come a long way in a short time!

Over the past 7 years Nudo has upgraded the greenhouses, improved processes, hygiene, and quality assurance to enable the growth of high-quality herbs.

There are over 50 varieties of herbs that Nudo grow, providing freshness and availability all year round.

We provide to regional Pak ’N Save and New World supermarkets as well as Bunnings stores nationwide. These fresh herbs come in either a small 9cm pot and premium 1.1L pots.

We provide a personal touch with our customers, delivering same day to local regions, our delivery always comes with a smile and a quick chat to ensure all customer needs are fulfilled.

We also provide an overnight service nationwide, and we only use carriers who ensure care is taken in keeping our produce fresh and undamaged.

Sustainability

Our plant waste (plant, roots and soil) finds a final resting place at our local Omokoroa Golf Course, it gets mixed in with top soil and is used as part of the course maintenance.

We donate any excess stock plants to the local Omokoroa Community Garden and Bethlehem Neighbourhood Community Garden for regeneration in the community.

Here at Nudo we are constantly improving our sustainability. We have a GAP certified product, using Type 5 Recyclable herb pots, plastic sleeves, and pot labels (just to make it easy for you!).

We reuse banana boxes to transport our herbs, and we collect to reuse our trays and crates from our customers.  This circular recycling system is our way of helping the environment.

Sustainable because we care

Why the Bay of Plenty?

The Bay of Plenty is a great place to grow anything! Whakamarama is a picturesque rural spot that is a pleasure to work in.  Our site enjoys the pleasure of Tui’s, Wood Pigeons and Fantails.

Our mild winter’s, with very few frosts help us to maintain steady temperatures in the greenhouses, keeping our heating costs of growing to a minimum. In the Summer months, our herbs love the heat and grow well, reducing our seed germination period so we can get herbs to your table quicker.

Our location is a great central spot in the North Island, it means we can personally deliver our goods locally and to the wider Bay of Plenty, avoiding the need for a distribution centre, and less handling of our product.  We have a great relationship with our local customers, it’s important to us to have that personal touch.
