How are they grown?
We’re a small business with a big heart!
All of our herbs are grown with the utmost of care by our passionate nursery staff to ensure top quality produce. A lot of forecasting and forward planning goes into our growing programme, based on past experience, historical data, popularity of herb types, and success rates.
Jaco, our nursery manager, can plan according to this information, months in advance to ensure year-round supply of fresh herbs to your table.
There are a lot of factors to consider, weather temperatures, pests, diseases, germination time, strike rates, volume control to ensure we have mature herbs at the right time to fulfil customer demand.
How are they grown?

Seed to plant
Our herbs are grown from top quality seeds sourced, mostly here in New Zealand. Seeds are sewn directly into their 9cm pots and they stay in that pot right through to being dispatched.

Freshness
With careful planning and our dedicated Nudo team, we make sure to supply the freshest herbs no matter the season. We try to ensure once the herbs are at the supermarket, they are as fresh as can be.

Ready to eat
In stores, our herbs are fresh and ready to eat! Simply snip off what you need, and enjoy! We always think that the best flavour comes straight from pot to table.

Cut ’n cook
Other herbs are grown from our own cuttings. Our premium Cut n Cook potted herbs are potted into their 1.1L pots from established well rooted cuttings, where they stay in until despatch.

Natural pest treatment
To control pests and diseases we use natural Pyrethrum based treatments and plant based spraying oils. This is necessary to control bugs and common traits like mould and mildew.

Biologicals
We also use “biologicals”, these are specific insects that can control pests by consuming them, a natural approach that is more environmentally friendly.

Mint
Where do we start! From lamb, to teas, to cocktails, mint is a truly versatile herb.
A favourite of ours is to freeze leftover mint tea into ice cubes!

The heart of many Latin American, Italian, and Indian dishes.
Cilantro, or Coriander is a staple herb; elevating every dish when used as a garnish or ingredient.

Basil
Whole, sliced, torn or squished - Basil leaves add a fantastic layer of flavour when used raw, or cooked into a dish. We home three types of basil: mint, sweet and Thai.

Dill
This can be used as a garnish for soups or roasted vegetables.
Sprinkle it on top of cold cucumber salads or in potato dishes to add a little zing!

Aloe Vera
A rich source of antioxidants and vitamins that help protect body.
Compounds in aloe vera have also been shown to soothe some effects of sun damage
