Oregano

This perennial herb native to the Mediterranean has made its way all over the world thanks to its colourful flowers, and distinct taste.

This herb can be used either fresh, for a strong taste that marries well with roasted meats and vegetables, or dried which is perfect for gently elevating the flavour of any dish!

When properly dried, it holds its aroma very well.

Care: Best grown in moist, well drained soil in an open, sunny position. Water well.

Did you know that oregano’s popularity took off in the US after world war two, when US soldiers fell in love with the wild growing and abundantly used herb in southern Italy.

Returning back to the US, these soldiers brought back a taste for the “pizza herb” (oregano to you and I). This tasty herb quickly became a staple in the US where they are now the number one consumer of oregano!
